On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” we learned about Proposition 144 from Arizona state Representative Oscar De Los Santos (D) and candidate James Rogers (R). The proposition would add language to the state constitution about voting laws, stating only U.S. citizens can vote in Arizona elections and elections can be decided only by votes cast by eligible citizens. Proposition 144 also aims to prevent a foreign national from making contributions to influence an Arizona election and prohibit others from accepting such contributions.
We also heard from Sarah Porter, Director at the Kyl Center for Water Policy at ASU, to learn about the finalized plan for Colorado River operations through 2028. Arizona, along with the six other states relying on water from the Colorado River, will see combined water delivery cuts of 1.25 million acre-feet each year for the next two years.
