Attorney Paul Bender was a former professor of law and dean emeritus at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU. Bender died September 11, 2026, at the age of 93. Bender served as the fourth dean of the College of Law from 1984 to 1989, during which time he was instrumental in starting its Indian Legal Program.
Bender taught extensively about both U.S. and Arizona constitutional law serving as an expert on the U.S. Supreme Court for local, state and national media, having argued more than 20 cases before the Court in his career. He also appeared as a guest on “Arizona Horizon” over the years, providing insight into legal affairs.
