Event to celebrate national broadcast series, which premieres after “NOVA” at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Arizona PBS, a community service of Arizona State University, today announced plans to host a premiere celebration event for “Resolve to Solve with Miles O’Brien” on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Orpheum Theatre in Flagstaff.

Taking place at 7 p.m. with doors scheduled to open at 6 p.m., the event will feature a screening of the series’ premiere episode, which explores some surprising climate change solutions, including how a seaweed additive is cutting cattle methane by 90% and how beavers are playing an important role in the fight against drought and wildfire.

Attendees will also be able to hear directly from the show’s host, Miles O’Brien, who is a veteran science journalist and is a current science correspondent for “PBS News Hour.”

General admission tickets to the event are on sale now and can be purchased for $17.62 each. Youth who are 12 years old and under can attend for a discounted rate of $9.59 each. Tickets can be purchased via the Orpheum Theater’s website. At the event, food and drink will be available for purchase through the venue’s concession booths.

For Arizona PBS, “Resolve to Solve with Miles O’Brien” represents a significant milestone in the station’s history as it’s the first Arizona PBS production to be distributed to a national, primetime audience.

“We’re excited to be celebrating the premiere of this new series with all of our dedicated viewers and donors in the Flagstaff area,” said Arizona PBS General Manager Scott Woelfel. “After all, producing ‘Resolve to Solve’ was only possible because of the support we received from Arizona PBS donors Sue Hart-Wadley and Searle Wadley, and we can’t thank them enough for their generosity and vision.”

Following O’Brien as he travels the world to meet the optimists, innovators and true believers who are tackling some of the planet’s most urgent challenges, “Resolve to Solve with Miles O’Brien” is comprised of five one-hour episodes. The first three episodes will air after “NOVA” at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays starting August 19, and the final two episodes will air back-to-back on Wednesday, September 9 at 9 and 10 p.m., respectively.

“This is a series about the power of human ingenuity, and the quiet, stubborn conviction that even the hardest problems are worth solving,” said O’Brien.

Although “Resolve to Solve with Miles O’Brien” will be presented as one-hour segments to broadcast public television viewers nationwide, those who prefer digital platforms will be able to stream the series in half-hour installments on the PBS YouTube channel and on the PBS app.
