History Detectives: WPA Mural Studies
FDR’s New Deal programs put people back to work including many in various arts projects. But what happened to these important pieces of our nation’s history? This “History Detectives” contributor has inherited some paintings that may be part of this lost work. Created by her aunt, Thelma Johnson Streat, she believes they were mural studies. Did any of these studies become murals and do any of them still exist?

A Private Tour of the Griffith Observatory
E.C.Krupp, director of the Griffith Observatory, takes viewers on a private tour of this historic, scientific and architectural treasure. The observatory, which opened in 1935, was built as a project of the Works Project Administration (WPA).
