Celebrate Arizona’s Statehood Day with local content

Celebrate and learn more about the history of Arizona with Arizona PBS! Arizona became a state on Feb. 14, 1912, and is the 48th state in the union. Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon, National Parks and one of a kind rock formations.

‘The Story of Arizona’s Good Food’ at 2:30 p.m.

An insight into the story of Arizona’s local food and the dedication of the people who produce it. Discover the secrets of mushroom cultivation, visit small and large farms, accompany Indigenous foragers as they harvest the desert’s edible wild plants, witness as a farmer loses precious land to development and experience the opportunities and obstacles inherent in our local food system.

‘Check, Please! Arizona:’ Unexpected Places at 3:30 p.m.

A local favorite returns! Each episode features three guests who dine at and then review three Arizona restaurants they recommend to each other. Chef Mark Tarbell moderates these lively roundtable discussions.

‘Trail Mix’d: Arizona’s Riparians – It’s a Shore Thing’ at 4 p.m.

We travel to Patagonia and Gilbert to hike along Arizona’s rare riparian areas, and learn more about the importance of water in our state. We also dive deep into the many plants, animals and birds that rely on riparian areas and how we can help with preservation efforts.
