‘Elemental: Fire in the Neighborhood’ explores growing risk of wildfire

As increasing numbers of homes are being built in the wild urban interface in Arizona, California and Colorado, the risk that forest fires pose to people and property increases, too. The multimedia collaboration Elemental: Covering Sustainability investigates the issue Friday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. on Arizona PBS.

About Elemental: Covering Sustainability

Elemental: Covering Sustainability is a multimedia collaboration reporting on sustainability as part of a partnership between public radio and public television stations in Arizona, Colorado and California.

The partnership features reporting and production from Cronkite News and Arizona PBS, both of which are housed within Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, as well as KJZZ-FM in Phoenix. It also includes contributions from KPCC-FM (Southern California Public Radio), PBS SoCal in Los Angeles and Rocky Mountain PBS in Denver.

The team, which is supported through a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, covers urbanization, climate change, water and renewable energy with a series of multimedia stories focused on trends and the future of sustainability in communities, farming and public lands.
