Alzheimer’s Musical Instrument Museum therapy classes

Banner Alzheimer’s Institute is using music to change the tune of people who are diagnosed with the disease.
“Arizona Horizon” spoke to the Gerdts, who found that music has helped the husband and wife reconnect with each other, as well as other people in their community.
A program at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix takes allows people to tour various sections of the museum. At the end of the tour, they participate in a hands-on music therapy session.
Diane Gerdts found that after the tour, her husband, who has Alzheimer’s, is able to recall the moments later on and is actively engaged in the sessions.
