AZ Votes 2024: Election night results and analysis special

In this post-election special, we analyzed early results as they came in with four political consultants.

Joining us were Jason Barraza of the consulting firm Veridus, Bob Charles of First Strategic Communications, consultant Lorna Ferguson and Lorenzo Sierra of Matters of State Strategies to give us their take on election day results.

Most major news publications had declared Donald Trump the next President-elect of the United States. A key factor in calling this victory came from wins in five key battleground states: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

Information about key Arizona races (as called by The Associated Press as of 11/6/2024 at 2:35 pm):

President

  • Trump is projected to be President.
  • No winner called yet for Arizona, however, Donald Trump (R) leads Kamala Harris (D) by 106,632 votes with 39% of the votes yet to be called.

U.S. Senate

  • No winner called yet for Arizona, however, Ruben Gallego (D) leads Kari Lake (R) by 60,808 votes with 39% of the votes yet to be called.

House of Representatives

  • AZ District 3 winner: Yassamin Ansari (D)
  • AZ District 7 winner: Raul Grijalva (D)
  • AZ District 9 winner: Paul Gosar (R)

Ballot measures

  • Proposition 136 (allows legal challenges to proposed ballot measures): No
  • Proposition 137 (ends term limits for judges): No
  • Proposition 138 (allows tipped workers to be paid 25% below minimum wage): No
  • Proposition 139 (constitutional right to abortion access): Yes
  • Proposition 140 (requires open primaries): No
  • Proposition 311 (creates a court fee for first responder death benefits): Yes
  • Proposition 313 (requires life sentences for child sex trafficking): Yes
  • Proposition 314 (allows police to arrest immigrants who enter the U.S. illegally): Yes
