‘The Bitter Season’ by Tami Hoag

More from this show

The Bitter Season follows the story of Detective Nikki Liska, who takes on a slower paced role at work, so she can spend more time with her family.

The transition makes for a tough adjustment for Nikki and her former partner, Sam Kovac.

While Sam carries on with an especially intense murder case, Liska handles a seemingly dormant cold case.

For Evi Burke, a resident of Minneapolis, life is comfortable.

After a spending her childhood in and out of foster homes, Evi acquired all she ever dreamed of: a nice home, career and loving family.

But an unwanted darkness from the past is lurking over her present-day happiness.
