Casa de Falafel: Family-owned and grown

More from this show

What once started at a gas station, Casa de Falafel has grown to serve guests the best falafels in town.

Khalid Shakir, the general manager, said the restaurant is family-owned and serves top quality cuisine.

He said their signature item, their falafels, are in a shape of a ring to ensure all parts of the falafel are crispy and cooked to perfection.

The lentil soup, which has been on the menu for years, is a family recipe. He said, unlike typical lentil soups, they offer a creamy take on the delicious dish.

For guests wanting to take home a taste of Casa de Falafel, they can purchase frozen lentil soup, falafel rings and falafel mixes.

Shakir said Casa de Falafel has grown since its start at a gas station run by his mother and father. Being a family-owned business, he said, they want to extend that same family feel to their guests.

“The guest experience, whenever they come through the door, is basically just for them to be satisfied,” Shakir said. “As soon as they leave, they’re just excited to come back.”

Guest Sarah Yaron said there is something for everyone to enjoy.

She said she always starts her visit off with their light and delicious hummus, topped with olives, alongside the lentil soup.

Yaron said she went with her go-to meal, which is the eastern salad. The salad is packed with olives, spiced onions, cucumbers and pickles with many dressings for guests to choose from.
