‘Jeremy Jackrabbit’ series inspires kids to embrace sustainability

More from this show

Sasha and Rodney Glassman are husband and wife authors behind the children’s book series “Jeremy Jackrabbit.” They joined “Arizona Horizon,” to discuss more about their new children’s book series, “Jeremy Jackrabbit.”

The Glassman, both attorneys, are passionate about education, helping children, and making their community a stronger and more sustainable place to live, work, and raise a family.

“The reason we started the project, and the reason we continue it is because it is about getting books into the hands of kids across Arizona,” Rodney Glassman said. “…the reason we are gonna continue it is because kids need books at home and this is a way to get them there.”

With these goals in mind, their vision of writing student-illustrated children’s books to educate future generations on sustainability issues came to life. The Glassmans have sold over 300,000 books, helping teach children about re-using Earth’s precious resources.

“I think it resonates with kids, not just the message,” Sasha Glassman said. “…it’s fun and educational but it’s also illustrated by children, so they see themselves in this book.”

“Jeremy Jackrabbit Travels Safely,” is the newest and seventh book in the series. The late councilwoman, Thelda Williams, sponsored the book after telling the Glassmans to write a book about pedestrians and traveling safely.

“All the titles are available at jeremyjackrabbit.com, where you can read it with your fingertips, or if there are viewers tonight who are interested in getting free books for their school, they can visit the website,” Glassman said. “…we are happy to distribute them because we distribute about 50,000 books with every title.”
