Journalists’ Roundtable: State of the State, proposed budget and more

More from this show

It’s Friday, which means it was time for another edition of the Journalists’ Roundtable. This week, Ted Simons was joined by Camryn Sanchez of KJZZ, Wayne Schutsky of KJZZ and Jeremy Duda of Axios Phoenix.

The journalists discussed the State of the State address delivered by Governor Katie Hobbs earlier this week. During that speech, Governor Hobbs talked about the “Arizona Promise.” During her address, she said the Arizona Promise is “the promise that everyday people can find opportunity … security … and freedom. The promise that through hard work and perseverance, you can build a good life for yourself and your family and leave your kids with a better tomorrow.”

The panel of journalists also discussed the Governor’s proposed budget plan. Governor Hobbs released her FY2025 Executive Budget this week. The budget plan would close the current budget shortfall and make significant investments in the issues affecting most everyday Arizonans. Those issues include housing assistance, childcare expansion, water conservation and border security.
