Low mortgage rates; Connecting seniors with technology; Arizona’s new Poet Laureate
Feb. 19
For the longest time in at least 25 years, homeowners are standing still. Reports show the lack of movement is keeping the housing market stagnant. Questions have been raised over how this affects things other than the housing market, such as the economy, jobs and salaries.
Mark Stapp, Director of Masters in Real Estate Development at the W. P. Carey School of Business at ASU, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss how low mortgage rates affect the economy.
Also, Chicanos Por La Causa’s (CPLC) Healthy Aging Program, aimed to better the mental and physical health of seniors, offers “Meals on Wheels,” housing, financial assistance and now technology. Their recently unveiled Cox Innovation Lab is getting seniors connected to the digital world.
Roberto Del Real, Director of Community Services at CPLC, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss their new program.
Lastly, Governor Katie Hobbs announced the appointment of Dr. Laura Tohe as Poet Laureate for the state of Arizona. Established in 2012, the Poet Laureate inspires the emerging generation of literary artists and educates Arizonans about poets and authors who have influenced the state through their art.
Dr. Tohe is the second ever Poet Laureate in Arizona history. Before her new role, the Diné poet previously served as Poet Laureate of the Navajo Nation for four years. She joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss her new role.
