ICE at airports; ASU space lab; Emmett Till mural

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” we heard from John Sandweg, a former acting director of ICE and former acting general counsel of DHS, about the impact of deploying ICE agents to more than a dozen airports nationwide, including Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Also, do you wonder how the planets work on the inside? Sibo Chen, an assistant professor at ASU’s School of Molecular Sciences and at the School of Earth and Space Exploration joined to discuss Facility for Open Research in a Compressed Environment’s lab’s work. Chen re-creates the extreme interiors of planets in ASU’s FORCE Lab.

Lastly, freelance artist Maggie Keane discussed her new mural of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old boy from Chicago whose life and death helped spark the Civil Rights Movement. The mural now adorns the west wall of Greater Bethel AME Church in south Phoenix.
