Heidi’s Village expands support for rescue pets
March 31
Heidi’s Village is a community-driven hub that promotes collaboration, innovation and lifesaving support. The hub helps its partners save more lives together by uniting rescue organizations, sharing resources and inspiring new solutions to help create a brighter future for pets in need.
Founder Ginny Jontes learned the greatest need in the rescue community was an affordable place to heal, promote and house the many animals these organizations save. Many rescue organizations have limited resources, lack facilities and are primarily foster-based.
Heidi’s Village intends to provide affordable, safe housing, an on-site veterinary clinic and behavioral insights to help match each pet with the perfect home.
Lori Wahl, Development Director at Heidi’s Village, joined “Arizona Horizon” alongside kittens Maggie and Matthew to discuss the program.
“We are a resource center for all the rescues and shelters in the valley. So the way we do that is we provide low cost boarding and vet care so they can save more lives,” Wahl said.
It is important to note that according to Wahl, “it is kitten season right now so kittens are being born left and right.” All of these pets could use a forever home and if you are interested in welcoming a cat like Maggie or Matthew into your lives you can view their rescue partners on their website here.
Heidi’s Village also has a section on their website where you can sign up to tour the five acre facility here. In addition to tours, they also have a secition on their website where you can volunteer and sign up to become a foster parent for the animals.
“Right now that is something we are always in need of. Fosters help us extend our space. So our nursery is totally full right now; but if we can get more people fostering and getting these guys out of there then we can open up a kennel for another kitten to come in,” Wahl said.
