Arizona election officials’ concerns about midterms; Head Start program; ‘Resolve to Solve’

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Senior National Reporter for Votebeat Dion Nissenbaum sat down to discuss a rare election security call hosted by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) for state officials. During that call, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes expressed to the agency his concerns about their lack of support and claimed the Trump Administration has repeatedly threatened state election officials.

We also heard from Director of Early Head Start and Head Start Eve Del Real who discussed the Trump Administration’s plan to remodel Head Start. While Officials from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said the proposed changes would encourage more local decision-making, Head Start advocates said it threatens the backbone of the antipoverty initiative.

Lastly, we were joined by Miles O’Brien, host of the new series “Resolve to Solve with Miles O’Brien,” to discuss the first national series from Arizona PBS. O’Brien travels across four continents to meet the scientists who are tackling some of the planet’s most unsolvable problems, including protecting people from extreme heat in a warming climate.
