Ashlea Barber on the value of therapy

More from this show

Ashlea (Taylor) Barber, a native of Arizona, graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy/counseling.

Barber saw early on that she had a talent for aiding people. She was someone else’s go-to listener at all times. It came as no surprise to those who knew her when she chose to major in psychology and later in counseling as she started her academic career.

With over 11 years of experience in the field of behavioral health, Barber specializes in helping people deal with race-based issues, life transitions and trauma, uncovering generational patterns of dysfunction, and working specifically with women. She enjoys using experiential techniques with couples, families, and children.

Barber’s guiding principle is to establish a setting where clients’ objectives can be achieved and the methodical cause of interpersonal and intrapersonal problems can be addressed.

Additionally, Barber has expertise dealing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and trauma, including those with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

As a Psycho-Dynamic Clinical Consultant, Barber has used her socioemotional intelligence to impact the objectives of success for enterprises by leading training sessions at mental health organizations and businesses. In this capacity, she assists in developing strategic curricula, a well-balanced program flow, and a rise in professionalism and socioemotional intelligence among employees. She also counsels management and stakeholders on strategic leadership decisions grounded on psychological elements for sustained development.

With kindness and grace, Barber aims to provide a calm, secure, and productive environment where everyone may feel comfortable throughout their period of personal development.
