Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope is obsessive about her work and driven by her own demons. Together with her trusted colleagues, she approaches each new case in the rolling hills of Northumberland in north-east England with professionalism and unparalleled gusto. In her hunt to get to the bottom of murder cases that fall under her jurisdiction, Vera does not hold back to ensure criminals are brought to justice. Along with her loyal colleague and trusted friend DS Aiden Healy, Vera follows all the clues all the way to the end of the trails.
Season eight sees Vera and the team investigating charred remains in an abattoir furnace, a woman who is run off the road, and two more puzzling murders.
