Navigating emotions during the holiday season

The holidays can bring joy, excitement and lifelong memories, but they may also bring unexpected big feelings for the whole family. These feelings are a natural part of parenthood and life, and First Things First (FTF), Arizona’s early childhood agency, is here to help. FTF is dedicated to giving children the best possible start in life by offering free programs and strategies to families navigating parenting.

Whether it’s managing stress as a parent or caregiver, navigating changes in routines or helping your child through moments of heightened emotions, FTF’s AZ New Parent Guide has answers.

The AZ New Parent Guide focuses on:

  • Pregnancy: Information to help prepare you for your child’s birth and for life with an infant.
  • Infants: Learn how babies develop and how to care for your baby in the first year.
  • Toddlers: Learn about behaviors, early learning and activities for your toddler.
  • Preschoolers: Learn about helping your preschooler make friends and get ready for kindergarten.
  • Health and safety: Lean how to keep your child safe and take care of your family’s emotional health.
  • Parenting blog: Find information and helpful tips as a parent or caregiver.

From birth to age 5, your child’s brain is growing faster than at any other time in life, building the foundation for how they learn, feel and connect with others. These early experiences shape everything that comes after, from success in school to healthy relationships and lifelong well-being.

Get answers your questions about early childhood development by viewing the guide, ensuring you can do the best for your child. From preparing for parenthood during pregnancy to learning how to care for your preschooler, FTF’s AZ New Parent Guide can lead you through challenges by:

  • Empowering families in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher.
  • Expanding access to quality early learning environments, like preschool and child care, to set the stage for lifelong success.
  • Promoting early health and development by preventing and identifying issues that could impact learning and growth.
