NFL-African-American diversity

More from this show

As millions of fans get ready to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday, Global Sport Institute at Arizona State University shares results from a recent national survey done in partnership with OH Predictive Insights between January 20-25, 2021.  The survey discovered the awareness of coaches and players of color in the NFL and the experience expectation for new head coaches, perceptions and expectations for Super Bowl Sunday, and tracking of national and regional preferences for various sports.

The Global Sport Institute, through their media platform, globalsportmatters.com, will also host a GSM Live on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. on “How the NFL Moves Forward.”  The panel of experts will take an in-depth look at the hiring and firing trends with the NFL’s head coaching positions by race since the inception of the Rooney Rule in 2013, based on the Institute’s latest research release of their corresponding NFL Field Study

“We are still in the midst of a pandemic, and professional sports leagues across the nation are still figuring out how they move forward in regards to everything from fan engagement to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts,” says Kenneth L.Shropshire, CEO of the Global Sport Institute. “Tracking these shifts in behavior and opinion when it comes to sport becomes even more amplified with all eyes on the spectacle that is the Super Bowl, albeit historically different this year. We’ll be interested to see how these changes over time will affect the trajectory of sport’s role in business, hiring practices, and society as a whole.”
