Reel West Sundays: ‘Heaven’s Gate’ Screening at Western Spirit Museum

Experience the epic Western “Heaven’s Gate” (1980) during Reel West Sundays at Western Spirit Museum: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.
Directed by Michael Cimino and starring Kris Kristofferson, Christopher Walken, Sam Waterston and Jeff Bridges, this drama tells the story of the historic Johnson County War in 1890s Wyoming. While controversial upon its original release, “Heaven’s Gate” has since been reevaluated as a cinematic achievement and was recognized by BBC Culture as one of the 100 greatest American films of all time.
Before the screening, Arizona State University Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies Kevin Sandler will introduce the film, sharing insights into its legacy and impact on American cinema.
