Cocina Madrigal is Yelp’s number one spot to eat in 2022

More from this show

Pulling from roots in Oaxaca, Cocina Madrigal Tacos + Tequila is a fresh and innovative family-owned Mexican restaurant. The restaurant incorporates a unique blend of bold flavors and ingredients such as their popular wild mushroom enchiladas and churros. It’s no surprise that they were named the number one restaurant on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2022. Owner and chef Leo Madrigal, describes what makes Cocina Madrigal so special.

“I am from Oaxaca, and you know Oaxaca is really known for the great cuisine that they have.”

“I have these amazing memories that I have with my grandma. You know going through and making fresh chocolate from scratch, mole and different marinades. It really influenced a lot because here at Cocina Madrigal, the tortillas are handmade and made to order.”

The comfortable restaurant whose ambiance is not only warm but exciting leaves Madrigal wanting guests to feel as if they were a part of the family.

“It’s just like home. When they come I just tell them just feel like home, this is your home.”

Nora Montaña, who works as a customer service specialist for Arizona PBS, recommended Cocina Madrigal for making her fall in love with enchiladas that she says are “life-changing.”

“Everything in that menu will surprise you with flavor from the beginning to the end.”

Guests divulged in barbacoa enchiladas, elotes and even veggie tacos that made guest Justin Neale come back the next day for more.

Making room for dessert, Cocina Madrigal’s classic churro made even Chef Mark Tarbell speechless.

“That churro changed my world, I’ve had a lot of churros, but that one is the best one I’ve ever had.”
