Arizona Democrats face decline in voter registration and elections
Nov. 27, 2024
There is a gap in the number of registered Democratic voters versus the number of registered Republicans in Arizona, and Matt Grodsky of Matters of State Strategies believes it’s one reason why Democrats lost the state in the Presidential election.
Lorenzo Sierra, Vice President of Public Affairs and Grodsky’s colleague at Matters of State Strategies, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the factors behind the dramatic shift in political outcomes in the state.
“We do a really good job of talking about policy and other things,” Sierra said. “…but I don’t think we have taken the time to really listen to people.”
Sierra emphasized that voters need to be able to listen and have conversations with one another, in order to bring back more voters to the Democratic party in Arizona.
“It’s gonna be on thousands of hundreds of thousands of people like me, taking responsibility for making our country better,” Sierra said. “…and selling what this Democratic party can be.”
Donald Trump won Arizona this election cycle with a dramatic 52.2% of the vote but barely lost to Joe Biden in 2020, who had 49.4% of the vote.
