Mobile bookstore brings new books to readers in West Valley
June 5
Mobile bookstores have become a novel way for readers to get new books without having to travel to far away to a brick and mortar bookstore. One such mobile bookstore is The Book Haul, which travels throughout Arizona’s West Valley to allow book fans to get a number of titles.
Traci Vopalensky, who is the owner of The Book Haul and a nurse practitioner, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss why she started the mobile bookstore and what sort of titles readers can expect to find at The Book Haul.
“It’s always been a dream to have a bookstore,” Vopalensky said. She has been an avid reader of books, loving to read all of the time. Yet, Vopalensky understood the difficulty of running a bookstore Monday through Friday while maintaining her job of being a nurse practitioner.
“I had seen mother mobile bookstores out of state on social media. That’s something that I could definitely implement that would be flexible with my schedule,” said Vopalensky regarding what inspired her to begin this mobile bookstore.
The Book Haul has been up and running since February of 2025. Vopalensky noting that the response she has been receiving from fellow readers has been positive, with the mobile bookstore being “accessible to them.”
“I really appreciate seeing people’s reaction when they come into the bookstore, just because like the floor is just book pages and people are just so amazed by that and I love seeing their reaction,” said Vopalensky when describing her favorite part of running a mobile bookstore.
