Changing Hands co-owner shares best new books for summer reading

More from this show

Summer is the perfect time to dip into new books and get some reading done. But what exactly are the must-reads for summer and beyond? Cindy Dach, Co-owner of Changing Hands bookstore, joined “Arizona Horizon” to share a few new titles across multiple genres. Whether you want adventure, romance or drama, many new novels are available on store shelves now.

“Colored Television” is a dark comedy exploring themes of racial identity, allowing readers “to laugh out loud while we are thinking about culturable moments,” Dach said.

“The Bewitching” is much more of a supernatural horror book. According to Dach, “Horror, strangely enough, has become very trendy.” Dach added these trends have moved on from traditional “someone is at your window” horror to more supernatural or spirit horror.

“Hope Dies Last” is a book that Dach loves because of the way it emphasizes the idea of hope. In this book, the author, “goes out and investigates people who are actually doing actions that are reducing the climate change,” according to Dach.

The last book “So Far Gone” features the main character’s decision to live off the grid following a dispute at the top of the book. Dach shared that, “it is quirky, it is funny, every character is more ridiculous than the other, and yet they’re all centered in this sort of humanity,”.

Each book Dach discussed can be seen below.
