Arizona judges up for performance review; Arizona school scoring; Arizona author discusses new memoir

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon”, William Auther, Chair of the Arizona Commission on Judicial Performance Review, discussed the upcoming performance evaluations and retention elections. Arizona is one of five states using partisan, nonpartisan and retention elections to determine whether judges stay on the bench. This November, there are 82 judges on the ballot who will be individually evaluated by the Arizona Commission on Judicial Performance Review.

We also heard from Katherine Haley, President of the Arizona State Board of Education, to learn about the new scoring system for Arizona schools. Schools across the state will have to meet a higher standard to be deemed an “A” grade school following an Arizona Board of Education decision to update the school scoring system.

Finally, we sat down with “New York Times” bestselling author and Phoenix native Laurie Notaro, who is back with her soul-baring memoir, “I’ve Got a New Complaint: Essays on Aging Disgracefully and Other Small Disasters.”
