On this episode of Keeping It Civil, host Henry Thompson talks with Brooke Barbier, a public historian with a PhD from Boston College. She is an expert on Boston’s political and social life during the Revolutionary period and is the founder of Ye Olde Tavern Tours, which offers tours of Boston’s historic sites and taverns.

They talk about her 2024 book King Hancock: The Radical Influence of a Moderate Founding Father.  Brooke shares about how political moderation played a key role in the American Revolution. This conversation was recorded the morning after the 2024 US Presidential election, which brought up the subject of whether political moderation can help us understand politics today.
