Eight, Arizona PBS Central Sound partners with Phoenix Symphony, making concerts available around the Valley
Feb. 26, 2014
Phoenix, AZ – The Phoenix Symphony is proud to announce its new partnership with Central Sound at EIGHT (formerly the KBAQ Production Studio), a part of EIGHT, Arizona PBS. This partnership makes Phoenix Symphony concerts accessible to the entire Valley starting March 18.
Central Sound at EIGHT began recording The Phoenix Symphony’s Classics Series concerts in September 2013 and will continue to record through May 2014. These performances will be broadcast on 89.5 FM K-BACH – classical.arts.community, and simulcast on KAET’s “Eight Classical” digital channel 8.4. These broadcasts begin on March 18 and run through June 2014.
“The Phoenix Symphony is proud to be able to extend the power of classical music beyond the stage,” says Jim Ward, President & CEO of The Phoenix Symphony. “This partnership not only allows those not able to attend Symphony concerts to be exposed to classical music, but also allows those who attended the concert to re-live their experience.”
The broadcast series premieres Tuesday, March 18 and continues every Tuesday on K-BACH at 7 pm into the month of June. The March 18th broadcast will feature Beethoven’s 9th Symphony conducted by Andrew Grams. The broadcasts of The Phoenix Symphony are accompanied by a companion series broadcast on Sundays at 2 pm, featuring interviews with guest artists, conductors, other concert selections and information pertaining to the Symphony.
“As part of our commitment to serving the community by capturing notable musical events in Arizona, we are pleased to be partnering with a world-class orchestra, The Phoenix Symphony, to record and broadcast their performances to thousands of listeners,” says Alex Kosiorek, Manager of Central Sound at Eight.
The recording and production process is made possible in part by equipment provided by Sennheiser and DTS, Incorporated. Most of the broadcasts will be presented in DTS Neural Surround™. This technology enables the broadcast team to deliver the performances in immersive surround sound, bringing the experience of sitting in the front row of the Symphony Hall directly to listeners, from the comfort of their living room or automobile.
