Content creation leader joins station following 8-year stint at WKAR Public Media in Michigan

Carol Yancho, a leader in media, broadcast and content creation, has been selected to fill the senior director of content position at Arizona PBS. Selected following a national search, Yancho’s tenure at the station begins Monday, August 12.

“Carol has a long history as a content creator and leader, both in public and commercial media,” said Arizona PBS General Manager Scott Woelfel. “As Carol comes on board next month, we’ll begin the challenging but rewarding work of envisioning and building a new Arizona PBS that serves our public on new platforms with expanded original content that reflects the communities we serve.”

Yancho comes to Arizona PBS from WKAR, a joint licensee public media station operated by Michigan State University. She joined the team at WKAR in 2016 as a producer and, for the last five years, has served as senior producer and director, leading content producers and other production staff.

Prior to her time in public media, Yancho spent time producing content for national networks, including HGTV, Lifetime Movie Network, A&E, GAC, Discovery/OWN, Animal Planet, TLC, Comcast and CNN across the country and internationally.

A six-time Michigan Regional Emmy Award winner, Yancho earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications arts and sciences from Michigan State University.
