Civics-focused series was achieved through partnership with Center for the Future of Arizona

Arizona PBS digital-first series, “Voter Ed,” was recognized with three Rocky Mountain Regional Emmy® Awards during a ceremony last Saturday night, November 8, 2025, in Phoenix. Achieved in partnership with Center for the Future of Arizona (CFA), “Voter Ed” is comprised of four, three-to-five-minute vignettes with each one exploring a different component of the civics process in Arizona.

“Keeping Arizonans informed and promoting civic engagement, both of which were goals of ‘Voter Ed,’ perfectly align with the mission of public media,” said Arizona PBS General Manager Scott Woelfel. “We’re grateful to CFA for their collaboration and support and to the Rocky Mountain Regional Emmy® Awards for recognizing the quality of this project.”

The series’ second episode, “Why Vote? (And How to Do It),” won in the Instructional category, and its fourth episode, “What is the Political Makeup of Arizona?” won in the Government/Political category. Additionally, Arizona PBS Art Director Tia Perkin, who generated all artwork included in “Voter Ed,” took home the Graphic Arts award for her work on the series.

Produced by Perkin and Arizona PBS Sr. Director of Brand Engagement and Marketing Jeremy Cauthen and narrated by “Arizona Horizon” Host and Managing Editor Ted Simons,” “Voter Ed” was initially released across the station’s digital platforms throughout the summer and fall of 2024, with the goal of educating voters ahead of the 2024 election cycle.

“Center for the Future of Arizona is committed to ensuring Arizonans have access to trusted, nonpartisan information that strengthens civic understanding and participation. We are proud to partner with Arizona PBS on ‘Voter Ed’ and are delighted to see this outstanding work recognized,” added Dr. Sybil Francis, Chair, President and CEO of CFA. “By breaking down how our systems work in a clear and engaging way, the series helps more Arizonans become informed, confident and connected to the decisions shaping our future.”

Looking ahead, as another important election cycle approaches in 2026, Arizona PBS is planning to update and re-release “Voter Ed,” with episodes expected to roll out starting late next summer. The station is also producing a Spanish version of the series, which will be published in conjunction with the re-released episodes next year.
