Celebrate National Coffee Month this August by checking out a coffee place featured on our program “Check, Please! Arizona.” Whether you’re looking for a rich latte or a refreshing cold brew, we’ve got a recommendation for you at one of these Arizona restaurants.
Fair Trade Café
Inspired by a transformative visit to a coffee plantation in Costa Rica, former science teacher Stephanie Vasquez embarked on a journey of discovery about her daily coffee ritual. This exploration led to the creation of the Fair Trade Café in downtown Phoenix, a haven where only fair-trade coffee is served.
A standout feature is their unique coffee flights and The Phoenix, a cold brew concoction with agave and cinnamon, offering a taste reminiscent of a churro.
“Check, Please! Arizona” guest Kelsey Rogers shared her delight in the Phoenix cold brew, noting its churro-like flavor.
You can visit the Fair Trade Cafe at 1020 North 1st Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, or you can check out their website for more information.
Forêt
Forêt is a French-inspired breakfast and lunch spot owned by Chef Sam Greenhalgh and his mother. The coffee program, expertly curated by Greenhalgh’s sister, features Forêt’s own blend, enhancing the overall dining experience. Forêt is renowned for its canales, a small French pastry crafted with time, patience and dedication, often selling out within the hour.
“Check, Please! Arizona” guest Pamela Carter describes the atmosphere as “fun to watch” with an array of people.
You can visit Forêt at 2 S. Beaver St. #170, Flagstaff, AZ, or you can check out their website for more information.

“The vibe in the cafe is really chill,” Moreno said. “The staff I have are super amazing. Our number-one-selling item is chicken and waffles.”
