Trail Mix’d
Explore Arizona. Discover the beauty of low desert, pine forest and everything in between as we experience the variety of Arizona landscapes. From biking to hiking to riding, explore Arizona in this adventurous new series.
“Trail Mix’d” was nominated for two Emmy® Awards, in the Magazine Program (Single Program) category for our episode “Flagstaff, the Year-Round Playground, which you can stream now,” and host Isaac “Ike” Easley was also nominated in the Performer/ Narrator/ Host/ Moderator category.
Black in Arizona
Winner of the 2023 Rocky Mountain Southwest Emmy® for Diversity/ Equity/ Inclusion Long Form Content, “Black in Arizona” explores the stories, struggles and successes of Arizona’s Black community.
Comprised of six episodes created for our digital audience, “Black in Arizona” aims to explore what it’s like to be Black in our community, as well as spotlight the contributions of some of the most impactful Black Arizonans in the state’s history.
Stream this year’s Emmy® nominee for Diversity/ Equity/ Inclusion Short Form Content, “Being Black in Arizona,” then stream the series as it explores “Politics,” “Health” and “Education,” the last of which won the 2023 Rocky Mountain Southwest Emmy® for Diversity/ Equity/ Inclusion Long Form Content.
Arizona Horizon: U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor dies at 93
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor died on Dec. 1, 2023, at the age of 93.
O’Connor made history in 1981 by becoming the first woman to serve as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
“Arizona Horizon” looked back at her legacy with Ruth McGregor, a former Arizona Supreme Court chief justice who clerked for O’Connor from 1981 to 1982, and Scott Bales, also a former chief of the Arizona Supreme Court who clerked for O’Connor in 1984 and 1985. Psyche mission: First to metal, an origin story
In collaboration with scientists from Arizona State University, NASA launched a spacecraft destined for the enigmatic asteroid Psyche. This celestial body is believed to hold the key to understanding the predominantly metal cores of ancient objects from the early days of our solar system.
In a special program about the mission nominated for an Emmy® in the Environment/ Science Long Form Content category, which you can stream here, we unveil the sophisticated cameras and cutting-edge instruments aboard the spacecraft. Moreover, we delve into the personal and scientific challenges that the dedicated team has encountered in their relentless pursuit of launching this groundbreaking mission.
2023: A Year of Storytelling
In addition to nominations for Arizona PBS productions, our promotion “2023: A Year of Storytelling,” shown above, received an Emmy® nomination for Program Promotion (Single Sport or Campaign), produced by our Senior Director of Brand Engagement and Marketing Jeremy Cauthen.
