It’s half detective, half drama in ‘Secrets of the Dead’

Part detective story, part true-life drama, “Secrets of the Dead” unearths evidence from around the world, challenging prevailing ideas and throwing fresh light on unexplained events. Using the most up-to-date science in the laboratory and in the field, scientists and researchers examine the missing pieces of each puzzle, completing the picture of what had been merely an assemblage of suppositions.

The series returns Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m. on Arizona PBS with new episodes this spring:

Feb. 20: “The Nero Files” New

Take a closer look at the life and legend of Nero, the infamous Roman emperor, as a forensics profiler attempts to find out what history may have gotten wrong about his alleged tyranny.

March 20: “Mumbai Massacre” 

Discover how social media became a silent witness and transformed news as it happened in the November 2008 Mumbai bombings. Hear from the victims in their own words, voicemail messages, texts and improvised user-group postings made during the ordeal.

March 27: “King Arthur’s Britain” New

Uncover new archaeological evidence at Tintagel that suggests the legend of King Arthur started in a prosperous and sophisticated trading village in 5th-century Britain following the departure of the Romans.
