‘Horizonte’ discusses impact of border security on wildlife

Saturday, April 25 at 6 p.m.

On this episode of “Horizonte,” we discuss the impact of border security infrastructure on wildlife, including in the San Rafael Valley in Arizona.

A study by Sky Island Alliance, a Tucson-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting ecological diversity, estimates that replacing existing vehicle barriers on the U.S.-Mexico border with a wall would reduce wildlife crossings by 86%.

We’ll speak with News21 reporter Lorenzo Gomez and News21 faculty adviser Rodrigo Cervantes about the impact of border security infrastructure on ecosystems and wildlife.
