Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina: Fresh food for family traditions

More from this show

Looking for a place centered around family tradition and top-of-the-line food? Look no further than Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina.

Guest Thomas Doely has been going for years. Living just around the corner, he noted it has become his happy place because of the fresh and tasty food.

Carissa Read, the General Manager, said no guest will leave hungry. Manuel’s has been serving the same beloved traditional Sonoran-style dishes for 61 years.

The unique family aspect makes this Arizona restaurant special as generations of diners have been a part of making the restaurant what it is today.

“Our customers grew up with us,” Read said. “We’re just proud that our customers have kept us open and in business for 61 years now.”

The best way to start off a visit at Manuel’s is with “the best salsa in town,” Doely said. His go-to meal is the combination platter, which includes a shredded beef taco, bean tostada and cheese enchilada.

To top it all off, he said the fried ice cream is the best dessert on the menu.

Doely’s pro-tip: Don’t leave without trying the special margarita called the Wally.
