Soul Cafe: A community spot

More from this show

Soul Cafe brings together people from all over through flavorful comfort meals and unique cocktails.

Sheila Bryson, owner and executive chef, said Soul Cafe is the heart of the community.

When creating the menu, Bryson said she took inspiration from her favorite meals. She said the most popular dish is the buttermilk fried chicken, which has been on the menu since the doors first opened.

Bryson said the cocktail program is just as important as the menu. She said they took their time curating unique cocktails for guests to enjoy.

Whether guests come in the morning to start off their day or come to wind down in the evening, Bryson said all guests get what they come looking for.

“I want my guest experiences to be like they’re coming home,” Bryson said. “I get up in the morning, and I feel so grateful that I have this community to come to.”

For guest Brooke Morrison, nothing beats Soul Cafe. As a travel blogger who has tried meals all over the world, Morrison said it is her favorite spot. She said they have the comfort food everyone wants in their life.

To start off her visit, Morrison had the caprice, which she said was exploding with flavor.

Next up, she had the salmon that was cooked to perfection. The dish also included a combination of ingredients such as squash, cranberries, corn and nuts.

No trip is complete without dessert. Morrison had the blueberry pie, which was made from scratch. She said from the crust to the blueberries, the dessert was fresh and delicious.

Morrison’s pro tip: Get the buttermilk fried chicken.
