How President-elect Trump’s legal battles could unfold

More from this show

Now that Donald Trump is the President-elect what does that mean for his upcoming and outstanding court cases? Do they move forward? He’s promised to seek payback on his so-called enemies including Jack Smith and Fani Willis, the DA from Fulton County.

Paul Charlton, Partner at Dentons, joined “Arizona Horizon,” to discuss this topic.

“As for the state cases…they are absolutely going to have to be delayed,” Charlton said. “As for the federal cases, with a high degree of certainty, we can say that they are going to be dismissed.”

When asked about Trump facing legal battles, Charlton explained the importance of the policy that does not prosecute sitting presidents.

“A president is supposed to be looking out for our interests overseas and domestically…if that president instead is required to sit in a courtroom every day…we lose the ability to have a president who’s focused on international and domestic issues,” Charlton said.
