The Waters: Acoustic Harmonies

More from this show

Krystal Baker, singer-songwriter, and Sturgis Waters, guitarists, are a married couple that also make up an acoustic band duo. Based out of Phoenix, Arizona, they share their love of music with a progressive folk-rock style.

Inspired by their shared passion for music and life’s journeys, they write songs that explore themes of love, resilience and the human spirit. Their folk-rock style allows them to push creative boundaries.

Baker shared that she found influence from all around. Growing up, Baker began listening to soulful artists like Al Green, whose vocals and timeless melodies inspired her. She also found inspiration in the powerful voices and distinctive styles of 90s female artists, including Sarah McLachlan and Stevie Nicks, whose music left a lasting impact.

Waters said he pulls inspiration from acoustic guitar players such as Tim Reynolds. Over time, Waters’ interests expanded to include jazz guitarists, particularly John Schofield, whose innovative techniques and style opened up new types of musical expression.

The duo frequently perform at local venues, festivals and private events. Their performances showcase not only their technical skill but also their genuine connection to their music and each other.
