Capture My Arizona seeks spectacular photos for 2014 wall calendar

Eight, Arizona PBS offers Arizona photographers chance to share, vote and publish work  

PHOENIX — (Sept. 4, 2013) Calling all photographers – from novices to experienced shutterbugs and seasoned pros! Eight, Arizona PBS asks photo buffs across the state to submit the brightest and most beautiful images of Arizona, from sunsets and desert flowers, to landscapes and street scenes – anything that is uniquely representative of our state – by September 18 for a chance to be published in the 15-month Capture My Arizona 2014 Wall Calendar. This fine-art calendar will showcase the highest-rated photos and editor’s picks, perfect for hanging on any wall.
“As a public television station, we’re in the business of sharing high-quality images,” said Kelly McCullough, Eight, Arizona PBS general manager. “We want Capture My Arizona to connect and reward Arizona photographers who share our passion for top-notch digital photography.”

The winning photographers will also be given awards, including:

• Month Feature Photo: awarded to photos selected as the feature photo for a month in the calendar.
• Published Photo in the Capture My Arizona 2014 Wall Calendar: awarded to photos which have been published in the Capture My Arizona 2014 Wall Calendar.
• Published Photographer in the Capture My Arizona 2014 Wall Calendar: awarded to photographers who have had at least one photo published in the Capture My Arizona 2014 Wall Calendar.
• Cover Winner: awarded to the photo selected for the front cover of a product.

Eight hosts the Capture My Arizona 2014 Wall Calendar contest as part of “Capture My Arizona,” an online community of people who love to take, share and publish their photos via capturemyarizona.com. Joining this digital photographic community is free.

Each month “Capture My Arizona” features rotating photo challenges asking for entries that illustrate specific topics – like sunsets, desert flowers and summer heat – by specific deadlines.  Uploaded photos are categorized into 32 groups, including festivals, portraits and food. Editors of “Capture My Arizona” browse the collection every day, choosingthe top-scoring photo that stood out above the rest to showcase as the “Photo of the Day.”
