WHAT:  Join Eight, Arizona PBS, Bookmans Entertainment Exchange and PBS Digital Studios for our kickoff to the Phoenix Comicon, featuring YouTube sensation Mike Rugnetta, host of PBS Digital Studios’ Idea Channel. Event details at https://azpbs.org/nerd/events.php.  Other event highlights include demo of Oculus Rift virtual reality, PBS Nerd Idea Swap and PBS Nerd Book Swap. In addition to this kickoff event June 5 at 7:30 p.m., here is the full agenda of activities Eight will be hosting in connection with Phoenix Comicon:

Thursday, June 5th

  1. PBS Nerd Announcement – 2 p.m. at Phoenix Convention Center lobby
  2. Mike Rugnetta event – 7:30 p.m. at A.E. England building (Mike is Webby Award-winning host of PBS Digital Studios Idea Channel)

Friday, June 6th

  1. Sherlock panel – part 1 – 10:15-11:30 a.m. location: north 127ab at Phoenix Convention Center
  2. Sherlock panel – part 2 – 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. location: north 127ab at Phoenix Convention Center

Saturday, June 7th

  1. PBS Digital Studios/Idea Channel panel – 1:15-2:30 p.m. location: north 131 at Phoenix Convention Center

WHO:  Eight, Arizona PBS and Phoenix Comicon welcome PBS Digital Studios’ Webby Award-winning Idea Channel host Mike Rugnetta for an “Idea Swap” event. Also that evening, Eight, Arizona PBS and Bookmans Entertainment Exchange present the first-ever PBS Nerd Book Swap.  Oculus Rift virtual reality goggles demo provided by Brikk, an East  Valley-based branding, design and interactive group.  Coffee and refreshments for the June 5th Idea Swap event provided by Cartel Coffee Lab.

WHERE:  A.E. England building (424 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85004), on the downtown Phoenix campus of Arizona State University, adjacent to Civic Space Park.

WHEN:  Thursday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m.

PHOTO OPPS:  PBS Digital Studios Idea Channel host Mike Rugnetta will be available for photos and interviews, as will the Eight Arizona PBS “Nerd-in-Chief” Bob Beard.  Oculus Rift virtual reality goggles demo.
