‘The American Revolution,’ a film by Ken Burns

The American Revolution” can be streamed for free on the PBS App through Dec. 13.

Thirteen American colonies unite in rebellion, win an eight-year war to secure their independence and establish a new form of government that would inspire democratic movements at home and around the globe. What begins as a political clash between colonists and the British government grows into a bloody struggle that will engage more than two dozen nations and forever change the world.

This new six-part series will premiere at 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 16 and air for six consecutive nights through Friday, November 21. Directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt and written by Geoffrey Ward.

Washington abandons New York City and flees across New Jersey, before attacking Trenton.

Aired Wednesday, November 19 at 7 p.m.

Aired Thursday, November 20 at 7 p.m.

Victory at Yorktown secures independence and Americans aspire for a more perfect union.

“The American Revolution Changed The World” highlights the significance of the long battle that lead to unity, which not only impacted the United States but also left imprints across the globe.
