Bert Hoelldobler — Foundation Professor, School of Life Sciences. A world renowned sociobiologist, Hoelldobler and his colleagues are studying the social interactions of ants and how these ubiquitous insects communicate with one another. He believes that lessons for the long-term survival of humans may lie buried deep within the social structure of ant colonies. Hoelldobler won a Pultizer Prize in 1990 with co-author E.O. Wilson for their book,
