Ken Burns’ “The Central Park Five” revisits the notorious crime

Ken Burns’ enlightening and gripping documentary, “The Central Park Five,” returns to Arizona PBS on Tuesday, April 2 at 8 p.m.

The film chronicles the Central Park jogger case from the perspective of the five teenagers whose lives were upended on April 19, 1989, when Tricia Meili, a 28-year-old white investment banker, went jogging through Central Park in New York City. When she was found hours later, she had been brutally raped, beaten and left for dead. The film examines the notorious crime, the media response and the public outcry it triggered, the failure of justice that followed and a probe into the larger issues raised about our nation’s complicated past.
