Breakfast spots from ‘Check, Please! Arizona’

The Arizona PBS original show “Check, Please! Arizona” has featured a lot of great restaurants over the years. If you’re tempted to try a few, we’ve compiled a list of breakfast restaurants featured on the show for you to check out when you’re looking for something new. Brunch & Sip

Arcadia’s Brunch & Sip was featured on Season 10 of Check, Please! Arizona, where the show’s guests indulged in fluffy pancakes and an all-American breakfast.

“I love coming here for brunch with my friends,” said guest Rebecca Parisi, a regular at Brunch & Sip. “The food is always delicious, and the atmosphere is so much fun. It’s not your typical, boring brunch spot.”

The Boozy Brunch Bar

This breakfast spot is the perfect place to grab a cocktail with your breakfast – or brunch if you’re a late riser. The Boozy, as it’s affectionately called, features drinks such as bottomless mimosas, Bloody Marys, mimosa flights and specialty cocktails.

Guest Sylvia Cook described herself as a Benedict snob and said she enjoyed the Not-So-Classy Benedict. “It was carne asada and the hollandaise sauce, the verde sauce, and that tasted really good,” Cook said. “The egg was perfectly poached.”

Morning Glory Café

Located at The Farm at South Mountain, Morning Glory Café is a casual countertop spot where guests can order breakfast and wander around the working farm and orchard while waiting for their orders.

“They get to walk around the property, enjoy the ambience or walk down to the pecan grove,” said chef Dustin Christofolo, who owns the café alongside his mother.

Check, Please! Arizona guests enjoyed a salmon spread, brisket and egg sandwich and brioche French toast, all of which were a hit.

MartAnne’s Breakfast Palace

If you’re looking for a traditional Mexican breakfast, look no further than MartAnne’s Breakfast Palace. The restaurant is known for its chilaquiles and is run by a mother-daughter team in Flagstaff.

“When I hear that MartAnne’s is a must-eat in Flagstaff, Arizona, I feel so proud and humbled,” said Anne Ozmun, the restaurant’s co-owner.

Harlow’s Cafe

This Tempe diner has been serving Valley residents since 1980 with its all day breakfast and lunch options. The Check, Please! Arizona guests raved about the chorizo and eggs, Belgian waffles and French dip sandwich.

Guest Kevin Brown said Harlow’s reminds him of an old-fashioned diner. “There aren’t enough of those left,” he said.

Original Breakfast House

OBH has been a Valley staple since 2013 and was even named best spot for breakfast by The Arizona Republic. It was featured on Check, Please! Arizona in 2018, and is still serving up twists on classic American and Southwest breakfast favorites.

Matt’s Big Breakfast

Matt’s is a downtown Phoenix favorite, serving everyday classics from scratch. Owner Matt Pool says their short menu is intentional.

“We serve breakfast classics,” said owner Matt Pool. “We don’t have this big, long, fancy menu.”

Brunch Snob

This Ahwatukee spot serves up brunch with a bite through its homemade food and fun atmosphere presenting classic items with unique spins.

Despite its name, Brunch Snob is not an unapproachable kind of place, with SNOB actually standing for “Seriously Nuts Over Brunch.” The environment is fun and casual dining where all are welcome.

Owner Celene Hillsbery owns the restaurant with her husband, and the family team has been crafting eclectic dishes that impress everyone who walks through their door.

“The best compliment I can get is for somebody to say, ‘We love the place, the service is great, the food is great and we want to come back,’” Hillsbery said.

Brunch Kitchen and Cocktails

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and there is no better place than Brunch Kitchen and Cocktails to start your day.

Jennifer Bryant, owner of Brunch Kitchen and Cocktails, said they provide vegan and gluten-free options to best accommodate guests health needs and preferences.

But none of this would be possible without the staff, Bryant said. The team is dedicated to providing the best experience for every guest, whether it be their first time or their tenth time, she said.

“They take pride in every dish, every guest, everyday,” Bryant said. “They are truly instrumental in our success.”
