Matthew Thornton: Rising Country Star

More from this show

Matthew Thornton, guitarist, vocalist and member of local Arizona band Vinyl Station, sings and strums on “Playlist 48.” A rising country star, Thornton debuts some of his beautiful, original music in this episode.

Thornton shared that his early introduction to music, playing drums and singing harmonies with his brother Patrick, inspired his lifelong passion for music.

When his brother left for college, Thornton decided it was time to learn how to play an instrument on his own in order to continue making music. Since then, he has gone on to make his own music while also performing covers from popular bands such as The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac.

Since getting their start in 2010, Vinyl Station has toured alongside American musician Rob Thomas playing in 67 cities with crowds as large as 10,000 people.

The band has gained a lot of momentum during one year, playing 394 shows in 12 months.

The band released their full EP “Answer Slow” in April 2024, followed by a second EP titled “Answer Slower.”
