Chula Seafood: Bringing fresh fish to the desert

More from this show

Looking for delicious seafood in the heart of the desert? Look no further than Chula Seafood.

Mandy Heflin, co-owner of Chula Seafood, said being in Arizona doesn’t stop them from having a full case of fresh fish packed with anything a guest could want. From oysters to scallops, everyone will find something they enjoy.

Guests can take a piece of Chula Seafood with them as they serve up options to take and cook at home.

Heflin said their top three items include the Hawaiian poke bowl, California burrito and the classic fish and chips. She said her go to dish is the sashimi platter because of its freshness and variety of raw options.

Heflin said it was her husband and her husband’s father commercial swordfish boat, which has been in the family for over 30 years, that inspired her to bring fresh fish right to the desert.

She said when guests walk through their doors, she hopes they have the best experience.

“We sell beautiful seafood,” Heflin said. “I want the guest experience to feel like they are at home, that they’re comfortable here, where you know you’re gonna have incredible hospitality, outstanding food and an enjoyable experience.”

Guest Tron Smith said Chula Seafood is her go-to restaurant and it always makes her feel right at home, no matter which location she dines at.

Smith said to start, she always gets the three grilled oysters and three fresh oysters with a side of chipotle butter.

Next up, Smith said she tried something new and opted for the grilled mojo fish, which she said was grilled to perfection. Alongside her entree, she had a side of broccoli and fries.

Smith’s pro tip: Seek out the specials because it is worth it to splurge.
