Sel Restaurant: French cuisine for the family-oriented
Feb. 5
Can’t head to Paris? No problem! Sel Restaurant brings the beloved and delicious French cuisine right to your backyard.
Guest Ana McCann picked this restaurant for its charm, service and delicious dishes.
For her first dish, McCann opted for the diverse scallops. On initial appearance, she was not sure she would enjoy the dish since it was served raw. However, she said she was blown away by the rich and satisfying taste.
She also noted the lovely atmosphere and how the chef and his wife often make appearances.
Branden Levine, the Executive Chef and Owner, said Sel is a collaboration of Southern European, Mediterranean and Asian influences. He said he strives to have fresh and in season ingredients for his dishes.
Run by Levine and his wife, he said Sel is a family-oriented restaurant.
“I would recommend people experiencing Sel to come as you are,” Levine said. “We want people to feel like they’re in our home when they walk in.”
McCann said another go-to dish for her would be the filet mignon, which is accompanied by mash potatoes she said are “from heaven” and tender asparagus topped with a delicious sauce.
But no meal is complete without dessert.
McCann said it would be hard to top her favorite dessert, a strawberry shortcake from her hometown in New Orleans, but Sel did just that. She said Sel’s rendition of the dessert combined sweet and savory and “blew it out of the water.”
McCann’s pro tip: Come hungry, because there are all sorts of dishes to try.
