Sweet Magnolia Smokehouse: Traditional Southern barbecue

More from this show

Put on your boots because Sweet Magnolia Smokehouse is bringing guests on a trip to the South.

Owner Derry Hammond said the restaurant is a combination of Southern love, spirit and tradition. On the menu: Southern style barbecue cooked slowly and thoughtfully.

Hammond said the restaurant is a family business, with recipes passed down through generations, and everyone taking on a special role to keep the place running.

“Here at Sweet Magnolia, this is definitely the identity of a family-owned business,” Hammond said. “That’s why Sweet Magnolia is still up 14 years later.”

Guest August O’Neal said whenever she goes, she feels like she is surrounded by family.

O’Neal said she gets the same dish every visit: a slab of ribs alongside a double mac and cheese, double greens and cornbread.

They offer different sauce options so no matter your spice tolerance, everyone can enjoy a flavorful meal.

O’Neal’s pro-tip: Come with an empty stomach, and get a to-go box.
