Air pollution regulations; new ADL study; K-9 Victim Support Program

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Sandy Bahr, Director of the Sierra Club Grand Canyon Chapter, joined us to discuss the Trump Administration’s decision to rescind the endangerment finding, claiming it caused unnecessary financial burdens on businesses and consumers.

The finding allows the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to put limits on carbon pollution. Created in 2009, the endangerment finding limited the amount of greenhouse gas companies could emit. Without this finding, air pollution will become unregulated.

Also, we discussed the new Anti-Defamation League (ADL) study, which highlights the six leading AI models on the degree to which they generate antisemitic and extremist content. This helps understand which models are better or worse at detecting and countering harmful content. Seth Rachlin, ADL Desert Board Chair, and Sarah Kader, ADL Desert Deputy Regional Director, joined us to discuss the findings.

Finally, we met Coco, the new K-9 addition to the K-9 Victim Support Program at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Coco is trained to provide support and comfort for crime victims, primarily those who are younger. Haley Knutson, a victim advocate at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, joined us with Coco to discuss the K-9 Victim Support Program.
