Maricopa County Flu Cases, Maternal Mortality, The Future of Nuclear Energy

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Will Humble, the Executive Director of Arizona Public Health Association, sits down to discuss the rise in flu cases in Maricopa County. The rise in cases this early in the flu season may be catching people unprepared as it takes two weeks for the vaccine to be fully effective.

We also sit down with Dr. Niraj Chavan, the Division Chief of Maternal Fetal Medicine and OB Services at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, to discuss the rising maternal mortality rate, what the cause might be and possible solutions to the problem.

Finally, David Rosowsky, senior advisor to ASU President Michael Crow, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss his recent launch of ASU-led New Nuclear Academic Consortium, with Purdue University and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, to accelerate nuclear energy research and workforce training.
